Installer Work and Safety Policy
Version 2 · Effective 18 September 2026
1. Purpose and relationship to other terms
This policy explains the standards that apply when a person asks The Solar Hub (TSH) to review their installer qualifications and when they carry out installation work connected through TSH. It supplements the Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy, and the written scope and safety requirements for each job. Publishing or accepting this policy does not by itself qualify anyone, create an invitation or assignment, or authorize work. Qualification, invitation, assignment and permission to start are separate decisions.
2. Qualification is not a licence or a promise of work
A TSH qualification decision is an internal platform decision. It is not a NEMSA competency certificate, COREN registration, government approval, employment offer, partnership, agency appointment, or guarantee of work, earnings, territory, volume or duration. An installer must separately hold every current licence, competency certificate, registration, permit, insurance and work authorization required for the person, business, job class and location. TSH review does not renew, extend or replace any external credential.
3. Accurate profile and genuine evidence
Installers must provide complete, current and truthful profile information and qualification evidence. This may include training or partner-school certificates, NSQ or NBTE evidence, NEMSA competency certificates, OEM training, practical assessments and prior-experience references. Files must belong to the applicant or be provided with authority, must not be altered or misleading, and must show expiry information where applicable. TSH may verify evidence with the issuer or an appropriate authority and may reject, restrict or revoke a decision where information is false, expired, unverifiable or materially incomplete.
4. Work scope and authorization
No installer may begin work merely because a profile exists or a qualification was reviewed. Each job requires a separate written assignment or work order that identifies the site, responsible parties, approved scope, equipment, limits, supervision, expected records and commercial terms. Installers must work only within their demonstrated competence, current external certification, TSH tier, assigned job class and the written scope. A scope change, unsafe instruction or unexpected site condition must be reported and approved before the affected work continues.
5. Site assessment and stop-work responsibility
Before work starts, the responsible team must assess the site and task hazards, confirm access and emergency arrangements, identify live electrical sources, agree isolation and testing controls, select suitable protective equipment, and conduct any required permit-to-work or toolbox process. An installer must stop or refuse the affected work where there is an immediate danger, missing authorization, inadequate competence or supervision, unsafe weather or access, defective equipment, an unprotected person, or a material difference from the approved scope. A genuine safety stop must be reported promptly and must not be hidden to protect a schedule.
6. Electrical and physical safety
Electrical equipment must be de-energized, isolated, locked or tagged where applicable, and verified by a competent and authorized person before installation, maintenance or repair, except where applicable law and an approved safe-work procedure expressly permit otherwise. Installers must use suitable personal protective equipment, fall protection, ladders, scaffolds, lifting methods, tools, test equipment, fire controls and barriers for the actual hazards. Work must follow applicable Nigerian laws, NEMSA and NERC requirements, manufacturer instructions, approved designs and recognized technical standards.
7. Materials, tools and completed installation
Installers must not knowingly use counterfeit, damaged, incompatible, recalled or below-standard materials or equipment. Safety devices, earthing, protection settings, labels and required tests must not be bypassed or falsified. Tools and test instruments must be suitable, maintained and used by competent people. The installer must leave the work area reasonably secure and orderly, protect the customer's property, record required test and completion information, and must not represent an installation as ready for use before every required inspection, test, certification or handover has been completed.
8. Supervision, assistants and subcontracting
An installer must personally provide the supervision required by the assignment, external certificate and applicable rules. Apprentices, assistants and subcontractors may perform only work they are competent and authorized to perform under the required supervision. They must follow the same safety, conduct, confidentiality and evidence rules. An installer may not transfer, lend or share a TSH account, credential, qualification, assignment or regulator-issued certificate, and may not substitute another person without prior written approval where approval is required.
9. Customer, community and workplace conduct
Installers must communicate honestly, respect agreed access times, protect people and property, keep customer information confidential, and avoid harassment, discrimination, threats, bribery, unauthorized sales, intoxication and deliberate damage. A customer request does not override law, safety controls, the approved design or the written work scope. Installers must explain material safety restrictions and handover information in plain language and must direct unresolved scope, payment, customer or safety concerns to TSH Support through the available channel.
10. Qualification and work evidence
TSH may require current photographs, certificates, test results, checklists, incident records, completion evidence and issuer or regulator verification needed to review qualifications, administer assigned work, investigate safety concerns, prevent fraud and resolve disputes. Evidence must be relevant, accurate and captured lawfully. Do not include faces, identity documents, private areas, unrelated customer information or third-party personal data unless the approved workflow specifically requires it and there is a lawful reason to provide it.
11. Privacy, access and retention
Qualification and safety records may contain personal and commercially sensitive information. TSH restricts those records by purpose and makes them available only to authorized recipients where needed for the disclosed workflow or required by law. The Privacy Policy explains the data categories, uses, recipients, rights and current retention schedule. The collection screen identifies the purpose and links to that notice before a file is selected or submitted. Do not provide unrelated personal information or third-party data unless the approved workflow specifically requires it and there is a lawful reason to provide it.
12. Incidents, defects and cooperation
Protect life and contact the appropriate emergency service or site authority first when urgent help is needed. Electrical shock, injury, fire, near miss, equipment failure, property damage, unsafe instruction, suspected counterfeit material and any other serious hazard connected with TSH work must then be reported promptly through the designated job or support channel. Do not conceal, alter or destroy relevant evidence. Installers must cooperate with proportionate investigations, remediation, customer protection, regulator reporting and lawful record preservation.
13. Review outcomes, restrictions and suspension
TSH may request changes, approve only a limited tier or job class, require supervision, restrict or reject an application, or suspend, expire or revoke a qualification or assignment where evidence, competence, conduct, safety, customer protection, external certification or legal requirements justify that action. TSH should record the reason and use human review for a decision with significant effect. An installer may contact TSH Support to correct a factual error or provide requested evidence. A TSH review does not prevent a regulator, customer, employer, supplier or other authorized party from taking an independent lawful decision.
14. Policy changes, support and preserved rights
TSH may update this policy prospectively as the installer service, safety requirements or law changes. The exact version and content hash accepted are preserved with each receipt; a later version is never silently substituted. When a new version applies to you, you must review and accept it at your next sign-in or protected platform visit before continuing. A current acceptance may also be checked again before a qualification submission, renewal, invitation or assignment. Nothing in this policy removes a duty, remedy, protection or right that cannot lawfully be excluded. Questions or safety concerns may be sent to TSH Support.
